It’s easy to search online and bulk purchase soap. Its typically cheaper and in our minds, environmentally aware to place 1 large order once every 6 months vs buying soap (or shampoo) on a monthly basis. I know, we’ve all done this. There are many issues with the mass production of soap and with your typical commercial soap company. In this article we will compare handmade and natural soaps with those that are commercially available and massed produced. Additionally, we will delve into the world of synthetic detergents and why the word “synthetic” isn’t really as scary as it sounds.
THE INGREDIENTS
The main issue with anything that goes in or on our body should be the ingredients. Labels list ingredients that are unrecognizable and impossible to pronounce. How are you, the consumer, supposed to know what is even in this product? Are you expected to walk around with your phone out, taking photos of the ten or more ingredients to individually research every ingredient?? Ingredients should be listed with their common name and their INCI name.
